As of April 2023, the state of Rhode Island has continued its Medicaid member renewal process after a brief pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Since there was a high backlog of Medicaid renewals, you may have patients who either have or will receive a renewal notice between Dec. 1, 2023, and March 31, 2024.

Tips to get your patients ready for a Medicaid renewal

Help your patients navigate their Medicaid renewal by sharing the following information for their convenience:

• Update their contact information to help ensure the state has their current address, phone number and email. They can update their contact information by one of the following methods:
  • Visit healthyrhode.ri.govopen_in_new or download the HealthyRhode mobile app
  • Call Health Source Rhode Island at 855-840-4774 Monday- Friday, except holidays, from 8 a.m.- 6 p.m. ET
  • Visit the Rhode Island Department of Human Services (DHS) offices in person
• Watch for a yellow or green notice in the mail. The state may tell them that their coverage is being automatically renewed or will ask for more information.
• Submit their signed renewal form and any other documents the state requests by the date on their notice
