North Carolina home health care EVV training

Last updated: July 26, 2023

Update: Extended date for requiring an electronic visit verification system, plus additional virtual training courses.

Beginning Oct. 1, all Medicaid funded home health care services must use an electronic visit verification (EVV) system to submit claims or they will be denied. Please note: The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services had originally set a date of July 1 for requiring EVV implementation but has since updated the deadline to Oct. 1.

The test program successfully launched on April 1, 2023. If you’ve been using the system in test mode, please continue to do so. The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services expects all providers to use the EVV process immediately, before the program goes live on Oct. 1.

Virtual training sessions

To help prepare you for this change, we invite you to join a virtual training session on the EVV process. We’re offering 3 sessions — you only need to attend 1, or you can attend as often as you’d like for a review. Each session will cover:

  • Home health implementation of EVV
  • Important dates
  • Steps to ensure compliance
  • How to obtain prior authorizations
  • How to receive reimbursement
  • Important contact information

Registration dates now available
