Updated 2025–2027 credentialing plan effective in March

Starting March 1, 2025, the UnitedHealthcare Credentialing plan will be available for your review. We review and update our credentialing plan every 2 years. Our goal is to remain compliant with state and federal regulatory requirements and accreditation requirements of the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA).

What this means for you

We’ve made a number of updates to the 2025–2027 UnitedHealthcare Credentialing Plan. Please review the new plan updates, which go into effect March 1, 2025.

  • Credentialing is required if you’re a network covering practitioner (e.g., locum tenens) or telemedicine practitioner and if you have signed a participation agreement with UnitedHealthcare
  • Updated credentialing time frames to meet new NCQA requirements, including the following:
    • Application/attestation should not be more than 180 days old
    • Primary source verifications should not be more than 120 days old
