North Carolina Medicaid: EP modifier requirement for EPSDT services

You’re required to use an EP modifier when submitting wellness and preventive services claims to UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of North Carolina for Early and Periodic Screening Diagnostic Treatment (EPSDT). The EP modifier identifies the type of service provided to Medicaid members under age 21. Claims will be denied if the section is left blank on CMS-1500 or UB04 forms.
