Kentucky: More Medicaid members will transition to UnitedHealthcare

We’re excited to announce that on Jan. 1, 2025, many Kentucky Anthem members will transition to the UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Kentucky. This means you may notice an influx of patients who can access the suite of UnitedHealthcare and Optum benefits.

To help you support your patients during this transition, we’ll be providing as much information and as many resources as possible. The Kentucky Department for Medicaid Services will also provide up-to-date information on their Kentucky Medicaid Anthem MCO Transition page.

What this means for you

You don’t need to take any action for these new members to have access to your services, however here’s some information to help you better understand this transition:

  • UnitedHealthcare will honor all approved authorizations for services not yet rendered
  • UnitedHealthcare will receive the claim history files to help us assign members to the right primary care provider and help them continue services
  • For the first 90 days, these new members will be allowed to continue services with out of network providers
